Three Dollars A Day Challenge

Who's with me? I am going for a goal to save $3 a day. Doesn't sound like much but yearly that would be a savings of $1095 and depending on what kind of interest account that is in, you could be preparing for your future. Most of the time we give ourselves excuses on how we can't afford to save money but we always manage to come up with that $6 lunch menu or $5 on cigarettes or better yet that $5 scratch off you've just wasted. If its not affordable then how can you afford it then. Saving for your future is the best thing you can do. Emergencies will arise when you least expect it.

Managing your money poorly doesn't go away when you get more money it just gets worse.

It's a great idea Ginene! $3 really can go a long way. I've been doing the same thing for the last 3 years saving $5 a day after getting some good advice on managing my money from the husband.

How's it going for you?

Wow Sharon! You are my inspiration. $5 a day was my original goal but I was scared I wouldn't commit so I said I'll start with $3. So far I am doing good. Its only my third day. LOL.

That's a great way to start saving. Start small, then work your way up to saving $5 or even $10 per day. Most people don't realize, there are so many ways to cut your spending. So many little things you can do without. Once you eliminate them, you probably won't even miss them. Buying your daily coffee drinks, Jamba Juice, or donuts can add up. Or you can focus on bigger things like reducing your cell phone or internet usage. For more money tips check out my blog Weezy's Money Tips & More

What a great idea. You know, I quit smoking about two years ago and I just had a thought... If I used to be able to spend 5-7 bucks a day on smokes I should totally try to put that money into my saving account every day. I think it's doable and I'm going to give it a shot :)
I'm also trying to MAKE money. Did you know that there is going to be a conference about making money with blogging in November, it's called PostieCon. You should check it out, always good to add a coupe of bucks here and there too...

This is really great. Honestly, I've tried to commit myself to saving $20 or $30 a week, but saving a little each day is better I think. I've always ended up canceling the automatic transfer after a few weeks, lol. $3/day sounds good and I think I'm going to start that too.. or at least start at a dollar a day and work my way up.. It'll be a good way to save up for a vacation to the Cook Islands in a few years, hehe. I like what Weezy said about not missing the little unnecessary expenses once they're gone.
