A quick way to find out if your site has been cached in Google is to go to Google and type
cache:http://name of your site.com
If your site comes up then your site is cached in Google. If you don't know what this means, it basically means Google has a copy of your site stored in the search engine. This is a good thing. Your site will normally become cached after it has become indexed. Since I am not a guru at this kind of stuff, the only thing I suggest is adding your signature in forums and regularly updating your blog and pinging it will help. I normally ping at Pingomatic and Pingoat

No problem. Also submitting your blog to directories help. There is a list somewhere either on my blog or save on my computer somewhere. If I find it I'll post it here.
